Our Story

The Hotel Thea in Tacoma Washington is part of the CHOICE hotel brand Ascend Collection. Offering newly renovated guestroom accommodations, business and leisure amenities and CHOICE privilege rewards program for frequent travelers.

 

Following suit of Tacoma's maritime roots, the name Thea was chosen to play homage to Thea Christiansen Foss, the founder of the largest Tugboat company in the western US. Thea Foss's roots run deep around the Tacoma area having several parks and waterways  adorning her name.

 

In 2019 the hotel began an extensive remodel to become the urban-chic hotel you see today.  The term Bravo Zulu is often used by Navy sailors to signal a job well done, and we think our remodel was just that.  A job well done.

We also use the nautical term, Fully Found, when describing our hotel which means completely equipped for service. At Hotel Thea you will have everything you need for a great stay and be able to relax and explore without interruption.

 

You'll find us in a commercial and residential area just off I-5, only 5 miles from the McChord Air Force Base and 6 miles from both the Tacoma Dome arena and the Tacoma Art Museum.
